About

The Gorge Wine Library was established in 2019. It started out as a pop-up bottle shop/tasting room in The Dalles, Oregon. Shortly after opening, we envisioned a visitor center for wine, grown and produced in the Columbia River Gorge. A place where guests can come into one location and experience the various wines from the area without having to travel all throughout the Gorge. The ethos of the Gorge Wine Library is to give guests a taste of what the Gorge has to offer and encourage them to visit other tasting rooms and vineyards in the area. We pride ourselves on carrying a wide variety of wines that include: exclusive wines that are only offered at our storefront, promoting women-owned wineries, organic/salmon-safe products, and iconic wines local to our area; all while providing an intimate experience for our guests. We want guests to feel welcome as if they are walking into our home and enjoying a glass of wine.

Lorraine Kupchin, Founder

Hi! My name is Lorraine Kupchin, and I am the proud owner of the Gorge Wine Library. I grew up in Sonoma County, California. I have spent the past 32 years being a wife and a mom to four wonderful children and recently became a grandmother. My family and I moved to the Gorge about 8 years ago and fell in love with the landscape immediately. I started in the wine industry working at Maryhill Winery. After working at Maryhill I worked for the Pines 1852 handling outside sales, tasting room events, and vineyard experiences. My husband and I realized there was no place somebody could go to be informed about the area and the different wines that are offered. We opened up the tasting room in the fall of 2019 and have enjoyed being involved in The Dalles community ever since!
